CHOOSE YOUR ADVENTURE:
Why limit myself when I have many interests and passions? Often, I would get stuck when working on a project, ruminating about if it was my life’s calling. I thought that to pursue the arts, I needed to devote my entire life to one form, giving all myself to the art. To become the master of the craft. However, that mindset prevented me from creating. I would stand frozen, unsure of what media form I should utilize. The desire to have a “concise” portfolio hindered me from making what I wanted and craved to express. Projects were unfinished or forgotten.
However, I continuously gravitated towards various medians: photography, painting, collage, writing, video, costumes, makeup… and a continuing and evolving list. Instead of forcing myself to be a master of one craft, I accepted that I enjoy being a jack of all trades, letting my interests take control leading me to constantly create no matter the format. So, now I am creating to just create.
